Low-carbon Sustainable Information System of Kaohsiung City

Taking green in the policy making, Taiwan set up the GHG reduction goal to return to the benchmark of 2005 in 2020. Since 2007, the Environmental Protection Administration has planned projects of Low-carbon Community, Low-carbon City and Low-carbon Life Circle and integrated the vision of Low-carbon and Sustainability to the goal of low-carbon and sustainable land.

In the third Naitonal Energy Meeting in 2007, low-carbon and sustainable land and low-carbon governance were designate as primary policy goals. By the index of sustainable development, energy security; energy management and efficiency; energy price and market, technology and industrial development, six low-carbon cities (4 demonstration city and 2 low-carbon islands) will be selected in 2014 and 4 low-carbon life circles will be built to materialize the low-carbon land from the foundation.

To respond to the policy of low-carbon and sustainable land, Kaohsiung City Government established Low-carbon and Sustainable Office in 2013 and adopted two of the ten operational functions, “Disaster Prevention & Adaptation” and “Tools in Law and Finance.”
